What is Ambi-VET?

The AMBI-VET was inspired by the stories of heartbreak and heroism that emerged from the Californian and Australian wildfires of 2020. Our team disturbed to learn that the extent of the effects of these disasters on the local pet and wildlife populations had been nearly impossible to track accurately; all that was known was that they were devastating. The World Wildlife Foundation estimates that 3 billion animals were injured or perished in the Australian fires, and there are countless stories of Californians who lost their pets as blazes spread rapidly across the state.

Unfortunately, these events are not uncommon, and their frequency and intensity are increasing. If something doesn't change, the tragedies will only continue.

There is a lack of mass casualty veterinary care providers. While there are volunteer programs and student organizations that produce aid, many cities and shelters have limited supplies and are not equipped to travel to the hardest-hit areas. Services and resources in emergency situations are limited.

In the meantime, low-income communities and areas with a high population density often face a lack of veterinary service providers. Residents find themselves too busy to maintain regular checkups or have physical or financial constraints that prevent them from being able to keep up with basic animal care. This means critical services, such as annual vaccines, are missed, endangering the health of both the animals and the community.

AMBI-VET fills these gaps.

The AMBI-VET  is a high-capacity veterinary clinic made from a refurbished school bus. Equipped to handle mass-casualty situations induced by natural disasters, provide evacuation services prior to disasters, and provide wellness care to community pets on "blue-sky" days, the AMBI-VET is a multi-purpose community staple.

At AMBI-VETwe are dedicated to Building Animal-Focused Community Resilience
